About the Author
Fly Fishing
Fly-fishing is one of my more relaxing activities. I really like it when I am having problems with my writing, no distractions, quet and alone. Allows for clear thinking. For this very reason during the main part of the season I will not fish the Jordan River, you will have a good chance of finding me on the Maple River. Usually in the early Spring I will fish the Jordan and the Ausable Rivers, when the rivers are not as crowded. When you tie your own flies and a fish strikes at that fly you have tied, you have fooled the fish and that is the reward, not the catch. You will get more strikes than catches.
Hunting
Hunting is special, just like fly – fishing. Hunting it is not about the getting, it is about the comradery, or company and the experiences that I have had. I filled my share of tags, but not all of the time. One time when I was hunting with my cousins. We were walking out of the woods, while walking out of the woods from hunting for the day. I stumbled over something. Stopping and shining my light down seeing what it was I tripped over. I had tripped over, a deer antler, looking around I found the other one. Not everyday you find a pair of shed antlers in November. Usually by late November the animals have them eaten them up. The little things like that make it more meaningful. I have been fortunate in the past. With a Michigan Elk Hunt, I deer hunt and small game.

My Experience On Mackinac Island

One of the things that attracts me to Northern , Michigan, is the ability to observe the stars in the lower evening sky. Just being able to on a bench in front of the Island School and just sit and look at the stars in the sky, and also listening to the waves gently crashing on the shore. Something that is almost impossible in the southern 2/3 of the state, due to light pollution. Light that is blocking out the lower evening sky. Street lights, yard lights, parking lot lights are examples of light pollution. The inappropriate or excessive use of artificial light.
Nothing like being able to walk or riding bike to work in the morning . If you ride your bike to work in the morning it is all uphill, but at the end of the day gravity will help you out, but I usually liked to walked it would allow myself the opportunity to unwind and leave work in the barnyard at the end of the day. My vehicle was always in park for six days out of the week. I saved gas and money that way. Less wear and tear on the vehicle as well. More money for me. We usually could get commuter passes for the ferries to knock that price down.
